Getting to The Castle Inn of New Orleans
By Taxi From the Airport: If you are coming in a taxi from the airport, the easiest thing to do is simply tell the driver you are going to Fourth Street, between St. Charles and Prytania, in the Garden District. It's about 25 minutes (sans traffic) and around $24.00 plus tip. United Cab Company (1-504-522-9771) is reliable. (Remember, if you are being picked up, please ask the dispatcher to remind the driver -- NO HONKING. We respect the peace and quiet of the Garden District.)
By Car: If you are driving from the airport, take Highway 10 EAST to New Orleans. When you are near the Superdome, exit at "Business District -- 90" (DO NOT go where it says "10 East Slidell") You do not want to cross the Mississippi River Bridge. Get off at St. Charles / Carondelet Street Exit (the second exit after the SuperDome exit -- again, DO NOT cross the Mississippi River Bridge. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp onto St. Charles Avenue (the route of the Streetcar) and go about 8 blocks, past Jackson Avenue (main intersection) to Third Street. Turn left across the streetcar tracks, onto Third Street, and go one long block. Turn right onto PRYTANIA STREET, go one block. Turn right onto FOURTH STREET and drive back towards St. Charles Avenue. We are the second to last house on the right before you hit St. Charles again.
Street Cars: Streetcars cost $1.25, run all night, and will get you to the French Quarter in about 7 to 10 minutes. The nearest stop is on the corner of Third Street and St. Charles Avenue, 100 meters from our door. Late at night they do run less frequently and you may find it a better investment to take a taxi back home to your Castle. It's a lot faster and costs around $5.00.
